Winter’s well and truly here, but has that ever stopped us before?

The first half of the 2022 Australian Hobie Cat Championship Tour is all but packed away for the winter, and on the eve of the Winter Solstice, it’s time to start looking forward to what’s coming up on the Hobie Family’s calendar.

The 23rd Hobie 16 World Championships, taking place in Spain is less than three months away, and the NSW Hobie 16 & Hobie 14 Turbo State Championships is scheduled to go ahead in conjunction with the ‘Beware the Bullets Regatta’ at Palm Beach Sailing Club on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Finally, however, the 50th Australian Hobie Cat State National Championships is locked, loaded and ready to fire as the Vincentia Sailing Club and NSW Hobie Cat Association are hard at work in its final stages of development.

With all these major events coming up very soon, the mad scientists from Team Australia cooked up a storm at the Baddie Regatta, devising a plan that would provide the Family with a winter reunion of sorts. Six weeks from now, and six weeks until the Hobie 16 Worlds kick off in Spain, the Butler Boys and Team VSC have worked their magic.

Over the weekend of the 30/31 July, with the option of sailing Friday or Monday, the Vincentia Sailing Club will host a Worlds & Nationals Training Weekend out of Jervis Bay, home of the 50th Australian Hobie Cat National Championships.

This event will be open to ALL Hobie Sailors, providing the opportunity for all our mighty mariners to gain some solid fleet racing experience during the off season, on a budget.

Some say it’s the greatest place in Australia to sail Hobie Cats. While some even consider it to be the most extraordinary in the world. The only way to truly find out is to journey on over to the epicentre that is Plantation Point, tucked away in the heart of Jervis Bay, to whole-heartedly embrace the raw potential of the North-Easterly Sea Breeze.

Book in early via Mick or Pat for billeted accommodation with the Hobie Family.

Sailing Fees will be as per the VSC Constitution.

  • Race fee, per day, two crew boat $25.0
  • Race fee, per day, two crew boat, one student $20.00
  • Race fee, per day, one crew boat $15.00
