Hobie Week Exmouth 2026!

Friday 25 September to Friday 02 October, incorporating the Pitts Design and Construction 50th WA Hobie 16 State Championships.

Thank you to the members of the HCAWA for their understanding while our friends in Exmouth recover after Cyclone Narelle. We are pleased to be able to reschedule and host this event in September with Exmouth Yacht Club. It’s time to make your travel plans! See you in gorgeous Exmouth.

You definitely do not want to miss this one! Lock it in your diary now, we have partnered with our newest Hobie fleet at Exmouth Yacht Club and are planning something unique and very very special. All welcome, family holidays encouraged.

The Ningaloo and Coral Coast is the perfect destination for your dream Hobie adventure. Your friends, partner, family will love it too. A place full of history and tourism activities, the beautiful coast will amaze you. Direct flights from Perth and Melbourne and an easy and picturesque 12.5 hour drive north of Perth.

Here’s the plan for the week at Exmouth Yacht Club:

• Friday 25 September – arrival, registration and welcome function.
• Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September – Pitts Design and Construction 50th WA Hobie 16 State Championships.
  • closing with an Exmouth Yacht Club Sunday Session and live music.
• Monday 28 September – Discover Sailing Experience, junior catamaran training and fun sailing!
• Tuesday 29 September – North West Cape Marathon Return. Cruise in company from EYC to the cape and back again, ok we know you’ll make a race of it!
  • finishing with the Hobie Black Tie on the Beach, evening function and presentation of the WA Championships (tickets included for competitors and additional tickets available for purchase).
• Wednesday 30 September – Fun sailing, junior catamaran training and local touring.
• Thursday 01 October – 3 Islands Whale Shark tour – Whale Shark and Ningaloo Reef Tour.
  • Beach food markets at sunset, grab dinner and socialise at the club.
  • Closing party.
• Friday 02 October – Build your own adventure of local experiences (fishing charter, snorkelling tour, exploring or fun sailing from the club).

This is a unique sailing event and will make your bucket list happy. So will a tour of Karijini National Park, so while your up north, why not stay a bit longer and take a visit!

Hobie Week is in partnership with Exmouth Yacht Club. The base for sailors, volunteers and supporters for the week will be the Club. Exmouth Yacht Club will be supporting the Hobie Cat Association of WA for a full week of catering and club access. Enjoy many glorious sunsets by the beach overlooking the gorgeous Exmouth Gulf, have a lot of fun sailing and being part of the community.

Limited camping will be available together for competitors and volunteers.

DIVISION ANNOUCEMENTS:

On top of the regular Hobie 16 divisions of Open / Masters / Grand Masters / Great Grand Masters (scored as a stand alone series for each), we will again have more divisions for more FUN!

Flyweight (below 145 kg), Middy (145-160kg) and Magnum (above 160kg) teams will be included in these two new divisions. Any teams meeting the weight criteria who place in terms of top three in the Open fleet will be excluded. Scoring will be within the Open fleet point score with teams being pulled out in order from the overall results (not scored separately)

Rookie division for any teams who are new to Hobie Cat 16 racing and would like some help! We’re supporting our Rookie teams during the event. Have a go, be part of the community and get in to Hobie racing, it’s fun!
