Bill Cheal Memorial Regatta | Toukley Sailing Club

Toukley Sailing Club is delighted to host the inaugural “Bill Cheal Memorial Regatta” over the October long weekend (Saturday 30th September 2023 – Monday 2nd October 2023). This will be an all inclusive monohull and catamaran event. ALL WELCOME!

Toukley has long been a club home to Hobie Cats of all shapes and sizes! However, most recently, the Hobie 14 Resurgence has truly blown up the central coast hub, with Dougie, Pete Walker, Aaron Robinson, Darren Schmidt, Rory Robinson and Clinton Fehlberg just to name a few of legends to take up the helm on the original off the beach catamaran. With the Round 2 of the NSW State Championships taking place in TSC February ’24, there’s no better chance for the Hobie class to familiarise thereselves once again with Darkinjung Country.

A fleet of Hobie 14s in the double digits is set to make an appearance on Tuggerah Lake, with big names set to hit the start line including the World Champions: the Butler Boys, Lucky-Dog, Big-Mac & the rumoured, surprise appearance of certain Nacra 17 sailors from the Australian Sailing Squad…

• Throughout the regatta, Paddy will be available for questions, Hobie 14 tuning tips and one-on-one coaching sessions before and/or after each day of sailing. Be sure to book in prior to the day, and be prepared for the Totally Immersed TV documentary crew to pop up out of nowhere!

A fleet of Hobie 18s has confirmed their place on the start line, with Jake and Brad headlining the current fleet. The pair are set to be joined by number of Hobie 18-Reimagined, along with a smaller fleet of Hobie 16s that will make up the larger Hobie class fleet.

Located on the NSW Central Coast, Toukley Sailing Club boats reserve access to launch your boat, directly into sandy beach waters edge. Our clubhouse has full facilities including hot showers, toilets and licensed canteen. You will enjoy flat water lake sailing with hopefully glamour NE’s!

Breakfast and lunch will be available Saturday, Sunday and Monday with dinner and music on Saturday night, footy on the TV in the clubhouse on Sunday night with sausage sizzle, pies & beers.

If you can please RSVP as soon as possible so we can get a gauge on numbers to help with catering, it would be greatly appreciated.
